Author Guidelines

Submissions to Studies in Social Justice should be submitted online as Microsoft Word documents. The text should be double-spaced and between 6000 and 8000 words. Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions. Submissions are reviewed by two independent assessors who may or may not be members of the Editorial Board. The review process will be anonymous and you are asked to avoid identifying yourself in the submission. We accept submission for review only on condition that that the material is not under review elsewhere. In any other circumstance, an explanation must be provided in Comments to the Editor.

Footnotes follow APA style. Referencing Guidelines: References are to be cited in the text with parentheses using the author/date style (e.g. Jones, 1999; Smith, 1993, 2004). Page numbers for specific points or direct quotations must be given. The Reference list is to be placed at the end of the article, following acknowledgments if included, and must be typed in alphabetical order of authors. The specific format is that of the APA (American Psychological Association) guidelines (6th edition). Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  5. The text, if submitted to a peer-reviewed section (e.g., Articles), has had the authors' names removed. Identifying information such as institutional affiliation and acknowledgements have been removed. The author's name has also been removed from the document's Properties, which in Microsoft Word is found in the File menu.

The copyright for the articles published in this journal is retained by the authors, with first publication rights granted to the journal. By virtue of their appearance in this open access journal, articles are free to use, with proper attribution, in educational and other non-commercial settings.
